"A Day in the Life" Photo Contest

The Council of Schools for the Blind sponsored a photo contest to depict "A Day in the Life of a Blind Student." Entries submitted by LSVI staff members resulted in two First Place and four Second Place awards. These six photos are part of an exhibit celebrating the project and promoting the Expanded Core Curriculum for Children with Visual Impairments.

The exhibit and and an accompanying reception will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the Rayburn Building in Washington, D.C.

LSVI's winning photos are seen below. 


 
Students learn career and vocational skills with on-the-job training experiences. Sensory efficiency skills are an important part of the expanded core curriculum. The expanded core curriculum emphasizes recreation and leisure skills. Students must be exposed to current assistive technology devices and learn how to use them effectively. Students learn orientation and mobility skills in real-life situations. Students should successfully participate in a variety of social interactions.
