The campus is located on a 9.5 acre tract in mid-town Baton Rouge, adjacent to the Government Street exit from I-110. Students from East Baton Rouge and neighboring parishes commute to school each day. Students from other areas of the state reside on campus from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon. Approximately 70 percent of the student population is residential. LSVI operates on a year round school year calendar. LSVI also serves several hundred students being mainstreamed across the state by providing Braille and large print books, white canes, and other mobility equipment, assessment services, and special training events.
