Mission
The mission of the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI) is:
To provide quality educational programs in a nurturing environment for children of this state who are blind or visually impaired
To strive to prepare students to reach their potential in a diverse and changing society
To foster a challenging rewarding workplace
To provide support services statewide in response to the ever-changing needs of blind and visually impaired students in Louisiana
Philosophy
The function of LSVI is to educate visually impaired students. The total environment of the school, including both classroom activities and the extended day programs, facilitates accomplishment of the goals of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each child. LSVI offers a broad spectrum of educational services, from daily living skills and socialization to college-bound programs.
